    What are Renewable Energy Certificates?

Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs) are tradable, non-tangible energy certificates that represent proof that 1 megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity was generated from an eligible renewable energy resource or power plant.

    Impact Story

How this Renewable Project impacts the planet?
In 2009 Bear Mountain became the first fully operational wind park in BC. Supported by the Peace Energy Cooperative - a Renewable Energy Cooperative, Aeolis led development in all phases of this 102 MW project up to construction, including wind data assessment and the procurement of environmental assessment certification and an energy purchase agreement from BC Hydro. The project provides sufficient clean, renewable electricity to power much of BC’s South Peace region. The facility is an EcoLogo certified facility and generates RECs.
    story-image-Chapter 1
The Bear Mountain wind park is situated on 25 hectares of land, with its 34 Enercon E82 turbines (2.3 MW) extending 7 km (160 m spacing) on a ridge just outside of the city of Dawson Creek. Visible from town, the wind park is a source of local pride and has helped define the community. The project site is still used for cattle grazing, as well as a host of recreational activities, such as hiking, snowmobiling, and cross-country skiing.
